New Zealand Motorhome
Travel:
Deposit
A deposit of NZ $500 or 20% of total hire cost is required to
secure your booking.
Hire Payment
The balance of the hire fee must be paid upon collection of
the motorhome on the agreed pickup date. Hire costs are to be
calculated on a day to day basis (not 24 hour periods).
Security Bond
A security bond must be paid at the commencement of hire. This
is fully refundable at the termination of hire, subject to the
following:
· No damage has been incurred to the vehicle or any third
party property
· No items belonging to the rental company have been
lost or damaged
· The hire vehicle is returned in clean condition
· The fuel tank and LPG gas bottles are full
· Toilet and waste water tanks are emptied
· Any traffic and infringement fines have been paid
Charges will apply if this criteria is not met. The bond is
NZ $2,000 for drivers over 25 years of age and NZ$2,500 for
drivers aged 21 - 25 years.
Compulsory Standard Insurance
Compulsory standard insurance is included in the hire fee. The
excess is held in the form of the bond and covers any single
accident. NB: Insurance does not cover hirers’ personal
property. Insurance does not apply to reckless driving or driving
whilst under the influence of drugs or alcohol. The driver must
be the person or persons nominated on the rental contract.
Insurance Exclusions
The hirer will be fully liable for replacing or repairing damaged
windscreens. The hirer is furthermore liable for puncture repairs
or replacement of damaged tyres with the same type and brand.
Insurance Excess
Reduction Option.
For an additional $15.00 (incl gst) per day the standard excess
can be reduced to $1,000 or $1,500 for drivers 21-25 years of
age.
Cancellations
Cancellations received more than 21 days prior to date of reservation
will be refunded less a NZ$150 administration fee. Reservations
cancelled within the 7-21 day period incur forfeiture of the
NZ$500 deposit. Within seven days a further charge will apply.
Vehicles returned earlier than the agreed contracted date will
NOT be eligible for a refund.
Late Return
Vehicles must be returned on the date, place and time as agreed
on the contract. If the motorhome is kept beyond the contractual
hire period without authorisation or consultation with the rental
company, the contracted daily rate will be doubled for each
day the vehicle is overdue.
Drivers License
A current valid international or New Zealand drivers licence
or drivers licence from your country of origin is required.
Drivers must be over 21 years of age with at least two years
driving experience. No special licence is required to drive
our motorhomes.
Breakdowns, Accident
or Mechanical Failure
Our motorhomes have 24 hour roadside breakdown assistance by
telephoning the provided number. In the event of accident or
mechanical problems the hirer should contact the rental company
as soon as possible. Repairs with a cost of up to NZ$100 may
be made without authorisation and will be reimbursed, as long
as receipts are available and the hirer was not directly responsible
for the damage. Any cost above NZ$100 will require prior approval.
No responsibility will be accepted for accommodation charges,
meals or out-of-pocket expenses resulting from a breakdown or
accident. Due to ever increasing bookings for our motorhomes
especially during peak demand periods we may not be able to
provide a replacement vehicle. Our liability extends
only to a refund of rental charges for any days of loss of vehicle
usage caused by a mechanical breakdown or accident.
New Zealand Speed Limits
The laws in this country restrict open road speeds. Our 4/5
berth motorhomes can legally travel at a maximum speed of 90
km/h but travel best at 80km/h. The two berth motorhomes can
travel legally at 100km/h but we suggest 90km/h. Our countryside
varies from rugged to serene and most roads are two way and
windy, the scenery is amazing so you will not want to rush by
and miss the fantastic sights.
Road Restrictions
Our motorhomes can only be driven on sealed roads. No motorhome
is to be taken on Skippers Canyon Road (Queenstown), Ninety
Mile Beach (Northland), Ball Hutt Road (Aoraki Mt Cook) and/or
north of Colville Township (Coromandel Peninsula).
Environmentally Friendly
Motorhomes
We take pride in the presentation of our motorhomes and will
provide you with a clean and sanitised vehicle. To this end
we kindly ask that you do not smoke in our motorhomes and we
do not allow pets to be taken on board. Candles in any form
are extremely dangerous and are prohibited.
Liabilities
If, in the unlikely event, the Scenic NZ Motorhome you have
booked is not available, we reserve the right to substitute
a comparable vehicle at no extra cost in some circumstances.
This shall not constitute a breach of contract and does not
entitle the hirer to any refund. Should this replacement not
be possible, we will refund each full day of the hire that is
lost.
